It took a while to get our mitts on one of these and we knew beforehand that there was a lot of hype surrounding it, but what we found left us speechless, in a good way. The vape is the Mighty by Storz & Bickel and it is, without question, the STRONGEST portable vaporizer that’s currently on the market. There are vapes that come close, but nothing quite as powerful. This isn’t super surprising given that Storz & Bickel makes it. Who are they? They’re the Germany-based vape manufacturer that’s behind the legendary Volcano vaporizers, the Classic and Digit. Yeah, they’re that Storz & Bickel and obviously they know what they’re doing.
After using the Volcano, we knew to expect big things from them. Then we used the Plenty and while it didn’t taste as good as the Volcano and while it wasn’t quite as convenient and the Volcano’s balloon system, we were once again blown away. This time, not by the ease of use, quality of vapor, and all that, but by the sheer volume of potent vapor that it shoveled into our faces. Not quite as tasty as the Volcano, but wow does the Plenty know how to produce. So by the time we got a hold of this one, the Mighty, we knew we had in our hands something that was worthwhile – even though it does look kind of goofy. But looks can be deceiving and in this case they are because there’s really nothing goofy about this vape. It’s a hard hitter and extremely practical, assuming you’re not trying to fit it in your pocket. Wait, a portable that doesn’t fit in a pocket? Yup. But if you can get passed that, it’s going to impress the hell out of you.
The display on it is really big, bright, and easy to read. The controls are really easy to use. The temperature range wide, but doesn’t stretch as high as some of the others. However, it doesn’t need high temps to produce awesome vapor because unlike a lot of the other portables, it produces superb vapor at lower temperatures. In fact, it produces better vapor at lower temps than most portables can produce at higher temps. And that’s being generous to its competitors. The reality is that it’s literally better than anything out there right now as far as vapor goes. We mean this as it pertains to its rival portable vaporizers. And surprisingly, it’s even better than most of the desktop vaporizers out right now. Yeah, it’s that good.
Before Storz & Bickel reduced its price, the Mighty was one of the most expensive portables on the market. Now, it’s actually priced competitively, putting it in the same price range as vapes like the Pax 3 and DaVinci IQ. But unlike the two we just mentioned, this one, as we noted earlier, doesn’t really fit in your pocket. We mean, it might fit, but for the most part: don’t count on it. This is really more of a toss it in a bag/purse or use it around the house type of vape. It doesn’t need a cord to operate so it’s technically portable, but due to its large size, you probably won’t get out of the house all that much with it. Or at least, you probably won’t carry around with you everywhere you go. But for relaxing around the house, it’s an awesome vape.
The stats on this vape are pretty good, disregarding its size. It’s powered by two Li-ion batteries, both rechargeable, and probably the reason why it’s so large. The Crafty, which only has one battery, is quite a bit smaller and seeing as they’re both made by Storz & Bickel, we’re guessing this and likely the built-in digital temperature controls that the Mighty has are what make it that much bigger. The batteries it uses are rechargeable and powerful, capable of providing up to 2 hours of continuous use, which is a lot of vapor if you’re trying to figure out how that translates – probably more than you’ll use in a day.
Cleaning is a bit of a pain, but not the worst. Thankfully, it’s not so hard as it is a hassle. It’ll take you around an hour or so to fully clean it, which isn’t bad given that you don’t have to do it all that often. A light cleaning is usually all that’s necessary, which usually takes a few minutes or so.
Like the Crafty and every other Storz & Bickel vaporizer, this beast of a portable is designed for dry blends, but also supports concentrates via its liquid heating pad. You can also use this accessory to take up excess space in the oven when you only want to pack a small amount of ground dry blend. By which we mean, it’ll still work just fine and vape your blend efficiently even if you only want to use a pinch, as opposed to packing it full.
When it comes to the draw resistance, we’re quite pleased because this is one area where a lot of portable get it wrong. In this case, it’s so low that every draw is nothing short of a delight.

For those of you who keep up with our blog, you already knew this was coming because we talked about in our last post, but the day has come – our Hydrology 9 vaporizer review is finally here. You can see it on our site. And for those of you that don’t yet know about this impressive “portable” vaporizer by East Bay, California’s Cloudious9, it has a water filter built directly into it. Not some attachment, but part of the vape itself. And it runs on battery power, technically making it a portable we guess. But let’s be real, it’s not all that portable when it doesn’t fit in your pocket. Don’t let that fool you though, this is definitely a vape to consider – even if it isn’t all that “portable.”
When we first caught wind of that, we were 100% interested in seeing for ourselves what it had to offer. When we saw what it looked like (awesome) and heard what it did (water filtered vapor on the go), we had to see what it was all about and knew quite a few of you there would want to know what was up with it so we rushed to push out our review. Given that we’ve rushed ourselves a bit more than we typically would prefer, we want to note that even now, with our review published, there’s a chance we may make some changes to it as we continue to test and review the Hydrology9. So keep an eye out for updates here on our blog as we may be letting you know of a change to our review – you never know. But anyways, our first impression was that this was a vape worth trying.
How It Works
You put some water in it, being careful not to get water anywhere but where you’re trying to put it. We like to fill it just passed the little holes, but its maker says not to fill it passed the halfway point. Up to you. But whatever you do, be careful because water and electronics are not a good mix. On that note, it’s a leak-proof design. That doesn’t mean you yourself can’t make a mistake and spill water somewhere you shouldn’t, just that when it’s properly assembled, it will not leak. With that in mind, you’ll really want to make a point to put it together right. Read the instructions/manual if you don’t know what you’re doing. Once you’ve got a hang of it, it’s easy to take apart and put back together. Which is a good thing seeing as you’ll occasionally need to completely disassemble it and then reassemble it in order to properly clean it.
Once you have some water in it and you’re ready to vape. You insert your blend and click the button three times to power it up. After a couple of minutes of vaping, it’ll automatically turn off and you’ll have to heat it back if you want to continue to vape. At this point, if you haven’t and you plan on vaping more from the same packed oven, you’ll want to stir your blend. Do this to ensure an even vaporization because if you don’t and you’ve packed it on the fuller side, you’ll likely notice some uneven vaporization. And if you don’t notice, well, there’s a good chance it’s happening anyways. So stir your blend. Either that or don’t pack it so full.
Hydrology 9 And Concentrates
Does it work with concentrates? Yes. Is it designed for concentrates? No, by which we mean that its manufacturer says nothing about using it with concentrates, leaving the strong impression that it is not intended for use with extracts. However, we’ve done it and it does work. But be super-duper careful because you could damage your vape and/or void your warranty if you try. If you do try though, we suggest using only solid concentrates or nothing that will melt when you hit it with heat. You don’t want it leaking. If it doesn’t leak, you might be able to get away with it – we know we did. And actually, if you’re wondering how it worked, it worked really well. Total surprise. It actually works better with concentrates than with dry blend, or at least that’s how it’s been for us. Perhaps you’ll think otherwise, who knows? But if you ask us, this is definitely the way to go. You just want to make a point to be extra careful about what you put in it and how you go about it. And if you’re really worried, just don’t even do it because there is some inherent risk in doing so.
The Water Filter
Integrating a water filter into a portable vaporizer is no easy task, especially when you’re paving the way with a patent-pending design – as is the case with the Hydrology9’s water filter. Somehow, it allows for the free flow of air and vapor while managing to pass it through a water filter that doesn’t leak. Intrigued? You should be. This is some next level vape tech right here and we’re surprised that it looks this good. Seriously, look at it and tell us that this is not one beautiful vaporizer. And when you see it with its lights on, with its lights giving you a show for that matter, you’ll really know what we mean when we say that this is one vape that’ll undoubtedly turn some heads. And then there’s the water filter, which is actually useful as it helps cool and smooth the vapor. By the time it reaches you, it’s some of the smoothest vapor you’ll experience. So if that’s something that means a lot to you, how smooth the vapor is, you’ll have to check out this new vape because its vapor just might be the smoothest.
When it comes to the size of a vape, it definitely matters. And while we’re not going to dive too deep into this right now, you can read more about our thoughts on this vape’s portability in the “Portability Analysis” section below. For now, we do want to say that this vape is so big that many of you may not consider it a portable at all even though it does have cordless operation thanks to its internal battery. For those of you that can’t look beyond its large size in the context of it being a portable vaporizer, perhaps think of it as a desktop vape instead. After all, that’s where you’re going to be getting the most use out of it – at home, not on the go.
This is a strange aspect of this vape – the temp controls. We’re not going to sit here and say that we love them because we don’t. Yes, they are easy to use. But no, they are not ideal. Our first complaint with them is that we don’t know what temperature we’re actually vaping on when we’re on the different settings, of which there are five. Heck, we don’t even know the temperature range that it offers. And the reason for this lack of insight is due to the fact that as of writing, its manufacturer, the California-based vape startup Cloudious9, has yet to release that information. Why? No idea. But as it stands, finding the right temperature option or options to use is a guessing game. With a little bit of trial and error, you can find the options that work for you. For us, we tend to only use the highest settings when vaping concentrates, something that we don’t advise doing without first assessing the potential risks involved in vaping extracts with a vape that isn’t technically designed to do so, at least not according to its manufacturer. Back to its temperature controls, they’re easy enough to use and with a little effort you’ll figure out which settings you prefer, but it could be better. There could be a digital display and the ability to set the temp in one degree intervals between a range, but we’ll take what we can get when it’s a water filtered cordless vaporizer that does what it’s supposed to: produce vapor and filter it through water. And that is something that it 100% does. It also does more, which is what we’re going to talk about next – the entertainment.
There are two light shows to choose from. These are strictly for entertainment purposes as they serve no real function beyond entertaining you and your friends while you vape. To activate them, either press and hold the button for three seconds while it’s not heating up to activate the slow show or do the same while it is heating up and it’ll start the fast show.
So here’s where we tell you whether or not it’s actually a portable. While it technically classifies due to its cordless, battery powered design, we’re not going to go ahead and be so quick to label it a portable. If it were truly portable, we’d carry it around with us more often. It’s a bit too much for all that. This isn’t to say you can’t easily stuff it into a backpack and even quite a few purses, it’s just to say that it’s not going to slide in a pocket and go wherever you go – or at least, that hasn’t been the case for us. Plus there’s the glass to worry about. So this is one of those vapes that ends up spending a lot of time around the house where it certainly finds its fair share of use. It’s like the Mighty vaporizer in that sense. While the Mighty, one of the two Storz & Bickel portables, is a “portable” like the Hydrology, it’s really not all that portable due to its clumsy proportions. So it, like the Hydrology, tends to end up being more of a home vape even though it’s cordless and battery powered.
This is a question that’s best answered by our complete review on the Vaporizer Shark website, but we’ll address it to a lesser extent here and now to save you time. Still, we strongly suggest checking out the full review on our site because we get into much greater detail in our assessment of this new water filtered vape so you’ll want to read it after if you still have any questions about its viability and worth. Onto our assessment, this is a vape that has its place. For those who need a vape that produces extra smooth vapor, here it is. The vapor is of the smoothest quality that we’ve seen. Definitely top tier in that regard. In other aspects, the vapor could stand to see some improvement, but if it’s just smooth vapor that you’re after, this vape is more than capable of providing it. For those in need of a portable, you’re going to have to take a look at some other portable vaporizers, like these ones here, because this just isn’t all that portable. But if home use is what you’re after, you have a serious contender right here. To see what we really think about it and to gauge how it fares against its competitors, check out our in-depth Hydrology 9 vaporizer review on our website.
Here’s a video put together by the manufacturer which shows the Hydrology 9 vaporizer in all of its portable water filtering glory.
Some of you may have already heard of this new “portable” vaporizer but for those of you who haven’t, it’s a battery powered handheld that has a built-in water filter. It looks cool, it vapes cool, but it’s not without its drawbacks. While we’re currently working on our review, we wanted to let you all know about it – just a bit of a heads up so that you know what’s in our pipeline. You can expect to see our complete review before the month’s end. That much we can say for certain.
Another portable that’s in our queue is the Crafty by Storz and Bickel. While we can’t provide any definitive date by which we’ll have our review for it up on our website, we can say that we’ve been very thoroughly impressed with its quality and have been waiting a long time to finally share this review, which we’re basically just putting the final touches on now. When the Volcano’s maker puts out a portable, you better believe it’s something seriously awesome. What’s really impressive about it — just to share a bit about what we think about it before our review goes live — is the fact that it vapes better than your average desktop vaporizer and it’s a portable. It also comes with an app that gives you a lot of control over the temperature as well as a liquid pad that lets it vape liquids and other extracts. Without the liquid pad, a small insert for the heating chamber, it wouldn’t be the vape it is, which is an all-in-one style vape that does it all. Some call this dual-use because it vapes extracts and dried blends. Others call it a three-in-one because it vapes dry material, solid concentrates, and liquids. Whatever the case, it can handle anything you can throw at it – or at least, that’s what we experienced. And for reference, it handles it all in stride, producing some of the best vapor that we’ve seen. Oh, no! We’ve said too much. We’re going to hold off on sharing too much but just know that the Crafty isn’t all good as there are drawbacks to its design. But you’ll just have to wait for our review to find out what we’re talking about so stay tuned for more and if you’re not already, be sure to follow our blog here on WordPress because you’ll be one of the first to know when we publish a new vape review on our website.
Coming Up Next
While you can expect to see both of these reviews somewhat soon, it’s the Hydrology by Cloudious 9 that we’re looking to have a review up for sooner than later. The reason why you’re all going to be enjoying our Hydrology vaporizer review what is likely to be significantly sooner than our Crafty review is due to the fact that we ourselves were so intrigued by it, we couldn’t help but find ourselves compelled to push out our review as fast as we can. We’re going to go ahead and say it now but because of the timing, particularly how quickly we’re going to be publishing our thoughts on it, our thoughts are definitely subject to change given that we might like it more, or like it less. If such is the case, we’ll be sure to update our review, assuming it’s live on our site by then.
What Intrigued Us About The Hydrology 9
After seeing numerous attempts to perfect the vaporizer water filter combo, we’ve been intrigued by the prospect of a portable variant that really did what it was intended to do: produce mad vapor on the fly and pass it through a built-in water filter. There have been attempts, none of which all that portable in our opinion, but having yet to see the perfect water filtered vape, we’ve been continually looking for that one – the one that’ll impress us to the point that it ensures us that water filtered portables are less of a dream than they are a reality. In this reality, we see a melding of two worlds: the old world of water filters and glass and the new world of portable vaporizing technology. Aren’t you intrigued?
Being as we were in such a rush to test it, we’re now in quite the rush to share with you our thoughts, which admittedly may be premature but we’re going to get them out to you in the form of an in-depth review like we always do and if we have to make some changes, we’ll make some changes down the road. We do realize we’re reiterating ourselves here, but we just want to make a point to stress to all of you that we’re really pushing out this review quick after having had limited time to really dwell on our thoughts after extensive testing. So take it for what it’s worth once it arrives. Also, keep in mind that we might refrain from publishing it too quickly for just this reason so you might want to disregard all of this and just wait and see what we have to say and as always, take it all with a grain of salt.
We don’t want to spoil too much of our unpublished reviews on here so you’ll just have to wait until we manage to share them before you get anymore information about them out of us. For now, enjoy the many vaporizer reviews we’ve managed to put together on our website: https://vaporizershark.com/vaporizer-reviews/
After a comprehensive analysis of the available options at this time, we have come up with the answer to the question: What is the best desktop vaporizer? And the answer is simple, it’s the Volcano. The reasoning behind this conclusion, in our opinion, is sound. What we found was that its vapor quality is as good as if not better than the competition. Its delivery is most definitely better than the competition. And its overall usability is just as high as what we see elsewhere, if not higher. Basically, the only thing we don’t like about it is its price, which is too high for some people, particularly those on modest budgets. But for those who can’t afford it, there are Volcano vaporizer alternatives that we believe to viable and among them is the Extreme Q by Arizer, which is a lot less expensive and while not quite as good, packed full of useful features. With a lot to offer, the EQ is a nice alternative for anyone on a tight budget.
This is a topic we wrote about extensively in a recent review we published on LinkedIn, which we titled: The Best Desktop Vaporizer In 2017, A Review By VaporizerShark.com – catch title, huh? In it, we basically went all out as we covered not just the Volcano but its close competitors, the ones we thought worthy of listing. There are obviously others out there and one that we notably did not include is the Herbalizer vape, which we ignored because we believe the Volcano Digit to be superior and more or less the same. Just our thoughts on the matter. Perhaps we’ll put together an in-depth comparison of the two at some point and share it with all of you. Who knows? Until then, we want to talk more about this review we just published on LinkedIn.
One of the vapes that we mentioned in it was the same we mentioned in the opening paragraph of this article you’re reading here on our WordPress blog, the Extreme Q. We mentioned it because it offers a lot of bang for your buck and we think that’s something that a lot of folks out there can appreciate, especially when they see just how much a Volcano sells for. But there’s another reason why we added it and that’s because we think it’s a good entry level vape that lets new-to-desktop vapers experience the balloon system and the whip system – the two popular vapor delivery methods employed by today’s vaporizers. There’s another vape that made the list that offers the same and it’s known as the viVape 2. Both are cool but only the viVape comes with a touchscreen and only the Extreme Q is equipped with a remote. So there are some obvious differences but both are fairly reasonably priced and both have a lot to offer, both to new vapers and experienced ones alike.
Then there’s the VapeXhale Evo, which we haven’t published a complete review of yet on our site but one that we’ve tested and found to be impressive all the same. What really sets it apart from the other vapes on the list is its water filter, which is a feature that we’ve seen poorly implemented in vapes like the VaporBlunt 2.0 DLX, but very admirably constructed and implemented in vapes like the Evo, which is basically awesome. Not quite as fun as using a Volcano but definitely up there – better than most we’d say.
And last on our list, although we want to note that this list is in no particular order, is the Plenty Vaporizer by Storz & Bickel. This is a vape from the same people behind the Volcano vapes so you know it’s something legit and worth taking a look at. When we first saw it, we thought something along the lines of, “Wow, that sure does look strange but it probably works really well or else why would Storz & Bickel have their name on it?” As it turns out, it’s amazing. What it does is create a lot of vapor, or “plenty” of vapor if you will. Now that we’ve got the cheesy pun out of the way, we’ll tell you why. It’s all in the oven shape and size. The oven, or the area that holds the blend as it’s heated, is shaped like a wide disc. This provides a lot of surface area, which when it comes to vaping, is definitely a good thing. This allows the heating element to heat a lot of blend at the same time and the result is incredible – massive vapor clouds. When we say massive, we definitely mean in regards to dry blend vaporizers as we’ve seen some pretty ridiculously big clouds with vape pens that use liquid blends.
Anyways, that sums up our list of the top desktop vapes for 2017. If you want to learn more, take a look at our complete review published on LinkedIn, which we linked above. And to learn more about vapes in general or to find the best portable, pen, or whatever it is you’re interested in, check out our website at VaporizerShark.com and don’t forget to follow us @VaporizerShark on Instagram and Twitter!
Your favorite vape reviewers have added some new vaporizer reviews to their growing website and we’re pretty sure at least one of these is sure to pique your interests – the newer of the bunch, we imagine. What’s that? The new DaVinci IQ, of course. Which, as it turns out, is more impressive than you might think. But for those who are already familiar with the DaVinci Vaporizer company, it probably doesn’t come as too much of a surprise to find that they’ve released yet another hi-quality portable into the market. As for the other two vapes, the Ascent (also by DaVinci) and the Extreme Q by Arizer, these are a couple of vapes that we’ve thoroughly tested over the course of what has now been years and so we wanted to make a point to compile our thoughts and put them on paper (well, digital paper) to share with everyone.
Real quick, if you didn’t know, we basically exist to act as a filter. We test vapes and tell you whether or not they work and just how well they work if they do so that you don’t end up buying some lame vape that turns you off to the idea of vaping. Or in other words, we’re a filter, designed to protect you and your wallet from bad buys. As for the vapes we’re talking about today, none of these are bad vapes, but we definitely prefer one in particular over the others.
DaVinci IQ Vaporizer Review
Out of the three vapes we’re here to talk about today, there’s one in particular that has impressed us more than the others and that’s the latest vaporizer to come out of the vape labs at the DaVinci Vaporizer company – the IQ. This is a beast of a portable vape. To us, it somewhat adopts a similar design philosophy to one of its popular rivals, the Pax. In keeping things simple and ditching the screen in favor of indicator lights, DaVinci has managed to create a portable with an unassuming appearance, but packed in underneath that simple facade is a mountain of vaporizing technology that makes it one of the most innovative and powerful portable vaporizers today. If it seems like we’re talking it up, we’re not. It really is one of the best portable vaporizers out right now and that’s saying a lot given that some of the portables out there are actually pretty impressive. The industry has come a long way and the IQ, frankly, is proof.
What makes the IQ so good? For one, the vapor quality. There aren’t many vapes that can match it in terms of vapor quality and even less that can surpass it. Among portables, there are less than a handful from what we’ve tested that produce vapor of quality that is either equivalent to or better than the IQ. But beyond vapor, which to some is 90% of the equation, there are the features – of which, the IQ certainly has no shortage. But unlike some of the random features we’ve seen incorporated into vapes, what the IQ offers is actually useful. These are features that you’ll actually use, most of them anyways. Take, for instance, the ability to dim the lights. While you might not feel the need to dim the lights to go incognito, you may find this feature useful when you’re laying in bed at night, taking a few puffs before you pass out. Another useful feature is the ability to turn on its vibration-style alerts. These are great for when you’re not paying attention and waiting for it to heat up while it’s tucked away in your pocket as a quick vibration lets you know it’s ready to go. Our point being, its not loaded down with bloatware and gimmicks, just useful features that enhance its overall usability.
But getting to somewhat of the hard data here, the IQ is covered by a 10-year manufacturer’s warranty. It comes with an app that, while useful, isn’t necessary to use the device. With it though, you’ll enjoy the added benefit of being able to customize the heck out of your sessions as far as the temperature is concerned, as the app allows you to create custom temperature flows for your sessions, which DaVinci calls “Smart Paths.”
It has all kinds of accessories, like extra batteries and various replacement parts. And seeing as we just mentioned it, the extra batteries, we’re suddenly reminded of one of the reasons why we really like this vape. Its design, like such vapes as the Haze 2.5, allows for the battery that powers it to quickly and easily replaced by the user. What this means, in essence, is endless vaping. You can just swap out dead batteries for fresh ones whenever you want, making your vaping sessions go as long you go. Definitely a cool feature that we think more portable vape manufacturers should consider incorporating into their vape designs because it sure is a whole hell of a lot better than waiting around for your vape to recharge.
Now here’s something about the IQ that might not seem like much, but trust us, it is. Cleaning this vape won’t be accomplished without some effort, but unlike some of the other portables we’ve tried to clean, it can actually be cleaned in its entirety. Yes, this is a big deal. Why? Because when you can’t clean all it out completely, you end up with problems like pieces that should move, like the mouthpiece, getting sticky or stuck. Also, the pathways getting clogged, preventing air and vapor from traveling freely through to your mouth. These issues range in annoyances to serious design flaws and thankfully, the IQ doesn’t have to deal with them because it was obviously designed with this concern in mind.
Accessories aren’t always necessary but sometimes they’re just so good, you really can’t pass them up. In steps the Honeybird Core. This is one of those accessories that you will want to pick up. It’s not cheap and it’s not necessary but adding a water filter that actually works to your already awesome vape is something that you’ll just have to do when you see how well it works in combination. But we’re not going to tell you too much about that right now so if you want to know more about how well the Nectar Collector Honeybird Core works with the DaVinci IQ, you’ll just have to read our full DaVinci IQ review. In it, we’ll tell you a lot more about the IQ than you might care to know and we’ll also tell you, perhaps most importantly, just how well it really works and how it fares against the competition. For now, we’re onto the next part of this blog post: the part where we tell you about DaVinci’s other vaporizer — well, one of their other vaporizers — the Ascent.
Ascent Vaporizer Review
When it first came out, we were intrigued. After we tested it, we were impressed but we couldn’t help but see some room for improvement. While it’s still a decent vape, especially as far as portables are concerned, the reality is that there are now better portables to choose from and its successor, the IQ we just discussed above, is one of them. Still, seeing as there are still people buying them, we’ll tell you what you know about this pocket-sized vape by DaVinci.
The Ascent does something that not a lot of dry blend vapes do and that’s vape more than dry blends. It comes with glass oil jars which can be used to vape extracts. All you do is load them up then drop them in the heating chamber. Straight forward and simple. But be warned, they get hot so you’ll want to give them some time to cool off before you handle them without protection. Otherwise, use the tools that are provided to handle them when hot. And as a tip, they work better without their lids on but they also make more of a mess so the choice is yours, messy with better vapor with the lid off or cleaner with lesser vapor with the lid on. Up to you. We like to use it with the lid off and then get really thorough with our cleaning to make up for it.
As far as temperature controls go, the Ascent’s are awesome. They’re digital so all you need to do is press the up and down buttons (“+” and “-” buttons on the face) to adjust the temperature whichever way your heart desires. There’s also a feature that we see somewhat perfected in the IQ that we first saw in the Ascent and that’s the session temperature programming feature which lets you set the desired vaping temperatures for your session. You can set multiple temperatures and tell it how long to hold them before moving to the next temperature. Pretty cool feature but it works even better with the IQ.
The taste is something that we can’t help but comment on. The Ascent’s glass on glass (100% glass pathway) ensures that every hit tastes just as good as you’d hope. And that’s saying a lot given how many portables taste like garbage. But taste isn’t everything, although it is admittedly a big variable when assessing the vapor’s quality, and so we also want to touch up on the density. Is it the most dense vapor we’ve ever seen? No, but for a portable, it’s better than average. We’d even go as far as to say that it’s good. But at the very least, it’s totally acceptable. If you’re expecting huge hits, don’t – but if you’re looking for visible vapor that tastes great, you’ve found a solid vape.
Cleaning the Ascent Vaporizer by DaVinci isn’t super easy but it is doable. That’s more than we can say for some vapes so take it for what it’s worth. You will spend some time cleaning it, especially if you’re using it to vape your concentrated blend types. On the upside, the glass components that compose the vapor pathway are pretty easy to clean – you basically soak them in isopropyl alcohol and then rinse them in water. A quick scrub or wipe down if necessary before allowing them time to dry. Definitely not the most difficult to clean, but with regular use, you’ll find yourself cleaning it somewhat often.
Style wise it’s hard to say that this vape looks anything short of awesome. The appearance is great and with all of the different options as far as colors and patterns are concerned, we feel confident that most folks will find a flavor that appeals to them. So as far aesthetics are concerned, we think DaVinci did a really nice job designing it.
If this brief review of the Ascent is falling short of expectation or you’re just not learning what you want to do about this vape, take a look at our complete review as we dive into the depths of what this vape is and what it’s all about. You’ll find technical information, comparisons, and more. It’s all there. Basically everything you’d ever want to know about it and more. But if this just doesn’t seem like the vape for you, continue reading because we’re going to tell you about an older desktop vaporizer that has done well to make a name for itself as a hi-quality desktop with a very reasonable price tag.
Extreme Q Review
Wow. This vape is still around? If that’s what you’re thinking the answer is yes and yes for good reason: this thing works. And if that wasn’t reason enough for it to remain relatively popular after all this time, it’s also very well priced and offers more than you might expect, especially for how little it costs. So what’s it all about? With the EQ, it’s all about bargain- offering a lot for a little. This is something that Arizer has somewhat become known for, well, that and good vapor. The Extreme Q is one of those vapes that you use for the first time and receive immediate confirmation that vaping is a very real thing. We say this because unlike the cheap wooden box vaporizers that you may have seen at one point or another, it actually produces some thick, tasty vapor. And it does it with style.
With a sleek, black tower and a cool blue colored light that glows on the bottom, it’s not hard to see why we say that the EQ “does it with style.” But while it looks nice, it’s also extremely practical. It has a pretty standard whip setup that works really well and it also has an option that you don’t find in a lot of whip vapes: the bag (or balloon). By offering both the whip and the bag, the EQ offers novice vapers the opportunity to try it all and to do so for cheap. This way, you can see if you really like the idea of the balloon before you break the bank and buy a Volcano. But just so we’re super clear, the EQ’s bag delivery isn’t nearly as good as the Volcano’s so if you like it even a little, rest assured that the Volcano’s is that much better.
Temperature controls are, for a lot of people, an important factor. Fortunately, Arizer did it right and put together a digital temperature control system for the EQ that’s accurate and easy to use. It spans across a wide temperature range, giving the user a lot of wiggle room as far as their vaping temperature is concerned. To us, this is definitely a good thing because different blends vape at different temperatures and the best temperature is something that is best left to the user to decide. After all, we’re not all the same.
For those who are lazy or just don’t mind a little extra convenience, the EQ has a remote control. It is literally the first vaporizer we’ve ever seen with a remote control. A nice feature, especially if you’re into ambient vaping (aromatherapy). You can press the power button to turn it on, then adjust the fan speed and vape temp to your liking – all from across the room.

While we don’t yet have a complete review of the Haze V2.5 Vaporizer published on our website, we’re working on our review of the latest version, Haze V3. Seeing as that is the case, we’re not sure if we’ll actually get around to publishing a complete, formal review of 2.5. Subsequently, we’ve decided to put together this little speed review for version 2.5 of the Haze Vaporizer. Here it is.
Haze V2.5 Vaporizer Review
The first version of this vape, the original, wasn’t all that impressive to us. It seemed like it had potential but it wasn’t until we got our hands on V2.5 that we realized what kind of potential it had. This thing works and it works well. Its vapor is tasty, visible when you exhale, and fairly thick and the higher temperature settings. It has four temperature settings to choose from, the highest being better for non-dry blend types such as oils and waxes. Then of course, there’s the dual chamber aspect. This sounds like a gimmick but trust us when we say that it’s not. While it’s not necessary, we absolutely love it. You just flip the top to the left and pull out the mouthpiece and it’ll start heating up one of the chambers and then you push the mouthpiece back in, slide the top to the right, pull the mouthpiece back out, and it’ll start to the heat up the second chamber. Which is to say that it’s actually really easy to swap between chambers, so easy it’s actually useful. Cause that way, you can preload two different blend types, one in each chamber, like wax in one and dry blend in the other or whatever you want to do.
Battery Life (Endless)
The battery life on it isn’t the best, but when you can quickly and easily swap the battery for a fresh one, which you can, it’s not an issue. That’s one of the things we really like about this vape’s design – the fact that it employs a replaceable battery system to keep on going. It comes with a couple of batteries but we strongly suggest to anyone that intends on using it regularly as their “go to” vape: buy some extra batteries. This way, even you just get one or two more, you can always have two in the charger while you have one in the vape – keeping that constant flow that’ll keep you vaping forever. Which somewhat brings us to the next part, cleaning.
Maintenance & Cleaning
Cleaning V2.5 isn’t super easy but it’s really not that bad. Do it and you’ll have a problem free vaping experience. Don’t and you’ll find your mouthpiece getting stuck and so on. So keep up with the maintenance, it’s no big deal and kind of fun if you get into a little routine.
Back to the battery for a second to touch on the fact that the recharging station that it comes with is actually a portable charging dock for your other devices, like your phone. Definitely a nice little addition, especially for anyone that doesn’t already have a portable charging station (backup battery) for their smartphone and other USB chargeable devices. Definitely two big thumbs up to Haze Technologies, makers of the Haze vaporizers, for this inclusion. It wasn’t necessary but it’s definitely awesome.
Heat Up Time
Heat up time is pretty decent. We’d even say fast in comparison to some vapes. Not long enough that we mind and even when it stops blinking and says it’s ready, we still like to wait a little bit to give it time to really roast our blend before we begin to draw in the delicious vapor that it produces. And that’s kind of the big thing with this, the vapor. When it really comes right down to it, it’s the quality of the vapor that really gets us. We’ve tested a lot of vapes and a lot of them portables and it’s not every day that we come across a vape that really does what it’s supposed to do (create nice, thick vapor), but with the Haze, it’s just that: a vape that does what it’s supposed to do. So we have to applaud it for that at the least. But now that we’ve touched on what’s good, we want to voice our one real, easily-overlooked complaint: the size.
Size – How Small Is It Really?
Haze V2.5 is not the smallest portable vaporizer we’ve used. It’s really not. But, its flask-like shape makes it something that we can carry pretty easy. So we’re really not complaining here, but if possible, we would have preferred it to be a bit smaller just cause we don’t like to feel like we have a bunch of stuff in our pockets – which we typically do anyways. In comparison, it’s actually the size of one of our smartphones (with the protective case on it, that is). So it’s a bit bulky but seeing as it’s still small enough to fit in our pockets, it’s really not an issue and nothing that has ever stopped us from using it when we felt as if the occasion called for a little dual chamber action.
Summary And Conclusion
We like this vape. Haze 2.5 is of a rare breed: portable vaporizers that actually work. Plenty of garbage out there but this isn’t it, this is a vape that actually does what you want it to do. Reliable, easy to use, intelligently designed, and capable of vaporizing just about anything you’d want to put in it. So long as you don’t mind the size, this is definitely one solid buy. We highly recommend it. But seeing as version 3.0 is out and we like it more given that our initial testing has made clear that it’s an improvement upon its predecessor, we recommend skipping the old one (unless you find some awesome deal somewhere that you just can’t pass up) and going with the latest version. If you’re interested in buying Haze V3, we suggest you buy it from an authorized retailer like this one. For those who don’t know the difference between the two, here’s a video the manufacturer, Haze Technologies, put together to explain the differences between versions 2.5 and 3.0:

Why we started vaping.
For us, vaping was something that we all looked at as an alternative to smoking. Combustion seemed like a thing of the past and vaporizing, well, to put it simply- the future. Nowadays, there are plenty of viable vaporizers to choose from, which allows us to use the vapes that suit us best. This brings us to our next topic, why we created our website.
What Vaporizer Shark is all about.
This whole idea behind vaporizer shark revolves largely around the idea of testing vaporizers and sharing our findings through our website.
Why we review vapes.
Given how many vapes there are in the market, it’s no easy task finding the vape of your dreams. With so many options to choose from, some find it hard to know where to start. And that’s where we come in. We exist to help guide those interested to vapes that suit them best. Not all vapes are the same and not all vape users the same. So we’re here to help people find what they need while avoiding the bad vapes because there are, unfortunately, quite a few bad ones out there.
